This is Halloween: An Attempt to Bounce Back

October of 2018 was a total dumpster fire. Nevertheless, I am determined to bounce back (dang it!). Just in time for Halloween, yours truly is going to pick up books about villains and/or morally grey characters.

This is Halloween: The Literally Villainous

For my birthday, I received a couple of my favorite new releases. So, naturally, I do have a copy of Vengeful by V.E. Schwab. I am beyond excited to read more about these characters. Schwab is one of my absolute favorites. I am pretty sure reading this book will bring me so much joy.

Furthermore, I would like to dip my toes into the lore of Marissa Meyer works. So, I am hoping to give Heartless a shot this week as well.

This is Halloween: A Little Dark

I remain hesitant to step into the world of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.  While The 5th Wave remains in my currently-reading pile, I may venture into The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken because I am hoping to purchase the DVD of the movie. Both stories center around a dystopia and I know I won’t be able to handle two books from such a taxing genre.

Staying Afloat

Most importantly, I am working on picking myself back up and navigating through the world while managing my mental illnesses. It is tricky but, all I know for now is that I going to try to be okay with how much I read. I am aiming for acceptance and non-judgment. But, as I said, this is still a completely new road for me to walk on.

Hopefully, I will be able to muster the courage to comment on people’s blogs. I do apologize for vanishing. It’s a balancing act, this dance of being connected but not overly exhausted by the negativity of the Internet.

Et Tu?

How was your October? Any plans for Halloween?

I haven't been able to post on my blog for most of September. The world
As someone who is afraid of space and traveling in general, it's hilarious that I

Do what you need to do for you, D. Books are there for you, not the other way around 🙂 (And my top tip is to always log out of social media and close the window/app/tab when you’re done – you can always go back to it later, but you have to consciously want to log on.)

    Happy Halloween Dina! 🙂
