Tome Topple Summer of 2018 Reading Hopes and Dreams

Tom Topple has started a few days ago. A readathon created by the glorious Sam from Thoughts on Tomes, this event is about reading big books. It is an opportunity to tackle intimidating stories. Naturally, I am breaking rules left and right. You know how unrealistic my reading expectations are.

Are You Going to Finish That?

I expect myself to passively read two books that are carried over from last week (and beyond). First, A Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman. This story has been a feat to get into and pursue. I am not sure if it’s my mood or if it’s the story’s fault. Nevertheless, I want to keep trying to finish this story.

In the meantime, I want to also continue to push on with Through the Ever Night, which is probably going to be a fun, quick read.

Okay, now, let’s talk about some tomes.

Adult Fantasy Tome

Brandon Sanderson is my go-to for this challenge because I miss his Mistborn world. I am moving on to Well of Ascension this week. My hope is that I remember enough from the book to continue seamlessly.

Priority Tomes

Eye of the World by Robert Jordan has been one of the most intimidating stories in my entire bookshelves. I have the whole Wheel of Time series.  It’s time for Rand and the gang to take over my life.

Another possible tome to tackle is Cinda Williams’ Chima next book in the Seven Realms series. That book is called The Exiled Queen. Much like the Sanderson series, I am hoping I remember enough to keep going.

There’s No Way You’ll Get to This Tome, Dina

Other possibilities include Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor and The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness.

Your Turn

What are your favorite tomes that you’ve read up to this point?

  1. Good luck! I love the idea of this read-a-thon, but it always sneaks up on me before I can prepare! I’m lucky if I read one book that qualifies as a “tome” per year. For now, I’d just like to try to finish /It/ by Stephen King before Halloween (and the next movie comes out)!

    1. Oh, believe me, I try to gauge when the next readathon will happen. It doesn’t always align with what I want to read. You’re brave, Lori! I don’t think I’d ever be able to read It by Stephen King. Actually, most of his work sounds terrifying. However, I did hear that not all his stuff is horror.

  2. I’ve probably only read a handful of tomes, since size intimidates me so much! D: Can’t wait to see your thoughts on Legacy of Kings, though. It came out before my great blogging hiatus, and it’s been sitting on my TBR since. Goodluck! ♥

    1. I am discovering that some tomes don’t feel like tomes because they have fun storylines. A Legacy of Kings might be awesome, but it is unfortunately overshadowed by some seriously good books that I am reading.
